What’s the SCORE on Franchising? An Update For Fall 2014

SCORE-logoMike Hall of FranNet Carolina spoke at the August 22, 2014, meeting of the Charlotte Chapter of SCORE, a national nonprofit organization which provides free business mentoring to entrepreneurs.

Speaking to over 40 members and guests, Hall updated the counselors on the franchise industry, the pros and cons of franchises and how franchise ownership may work for their clients. SCORE was previously known as the Service Corps Of Retired Executives, but is now recognized as SCORE, “Counselors to America’s Small Business.”


It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free counseling and also presents business workshops and seminars for a fee. Business mentoring services are provided by both active and retired business executives and entrepreneurs, who donate their time and expertise as mentors to assist new and established small businesses.

SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. It is based in Herndon, VA. The Charlotte Chapter of SCORE has over 80 volunteers. FranNet is a national sponsor of SCORE and participates in their national meetings. Ken Yancy, the head of SCORE, will speak at the next FranNet national meeting. Mike Hall is the owner of FranNet Carolina, a franchise consulting company that matches clients to business opportunities.
